Purification and Some Properties of Cytochrome b-560 from Nitrosomonas europaea

Cytochrome b-560 was purified to an electrophoretically homogeneousstate from Nitrosomonas europaea. It showed absorption peaksat 427, 530 and 560 nm in the reduced form. Its molecular weightwas estimated to be 44,000 by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresisand the same value was obtained on the basis of the contentsof haem and protein.
