| Abstract: | THE effect of nerve stump length on the rate of failure of neuromuscular transmission and on the degeneration of the neuromuscular apparatus has been studied in some detail1–4 and there is general agreement that neuromuscular transmission fails and the nerve terminals degenerate more rapidly if the nerve is cut close to the muscle than if it is cut far away. |
