Abstract: | Erythromycin production dynamics in stirred, baffled shaken and non-baffled shaken flasks was strongly correlated with the different distributions of hyphal particle diameters observed. Production only took place when hyphal fragments with diameters greater than 88 m were observed. Results are consistent with significant hyphal breakage rates, even in non-baffled shaken flasks. |
