Abstract: | The purification of a 2-alkenal reductase to homogeneity from a rat liver 100 000 times g supernatant is described. Its molecular weight has been determined by Sephadex G-100 chromatography and sodium dodecylsulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis before and after reduction with mercaptoethanol and carboxymethylation. The monometric form has a molecular weight of 45 000. It tends to form, to a very small extent, dimeric and trimeric aggregates of molecular weights 90 000 and 135 000. The isoelectric point (IP) was determined to be 6.2 by isoelectric focusing. |
