Abstract: | During a study of the yeast flora of soil samples from the Ross Dependency of Antarctica three new fermenting yeasts of the genusCandida were isolated. They could all use nitrate as N-source and formed a starch-like substance on non-synthetic media. They were separated on the basis of the sugars they fermented and assimilated. |
