| Abstract: | An extra fourth row of pharyngeal teeth was found on both pharyngeal arches in a specmen of the small African barb, Barbus paludinosus , a species normally exhibiting three rows of pharyngeal teeth. Possible phylogenetic significance of this alteration is discussed in connection with occurrence of extra fourth rows of pharyngeal teeth in other cyprinid lineages. |
