Branched and swollen rhizoids in hepatics from montane rain forest in Peninsular Malaya

Abstract

Swollen and branched rhizoids are produced by flagellar axes in seven species of hepatics from montane rain forest. Rhizoid branching is associated with contact with the substratum whereas swollen tips contain abundant fungal hyphae.
