Free and membrane bound ribosomes of the cotyledons of Vicia faba (L.)

Summary Changes in the quantities of free and membrane-bound ribosomes were followed in the cotyledons of developing seeds. During the phase of storage protein synthesis, free and membrane bound ribosomes do not interchange, and as both classes synthesise protein in vivo, it is possible that they may synthesise different groups of proteins. This suggestion is discussed in relationship to the developing cotyledon.
