Leucine aminopeptidase in exsheathing fluid of North American and Australian Haemonchus contortus

Juveniles of Haemonchus contortus from north America and Australia produced exsheathing fluid containing leucine aminopeptidase when stimulated in tetraborate-carbon dioxide medium. Exsheathment in this medium was inhibited by 1, 10-phenanthroline, 10^?3M, and this inhibition was largely reversed by Zn²⁺, 10^?3M. This supports the view that the enzyme is produced by the juveniles and that it is concerned in exsheathment.
