Abstract: | Evidence is presented to show the existence of hermaphroditism in tardigrades, a phenomenon hitherto unknown for this phylum: specimens were obtained containing male and female germ cells in maturation in the same gonad. Hermaphroditic animals have been found in a few species of Isohypsibius; in many species of other genera and also of Isohypsibius, there is gonochorism. |
