The location of parasites within their hosts: the behaviour of Nippostrongylus brasiliensis in the anaesthetised rat

N. brasiliensis have been observed in vivo through the exposed wall of the small intestine of anaesthetised rats. Closed circuit television has been used to record the types of movement and analyses of the images indicate that differences occur. It would appear that these differences are correlated with the feeding regime of the host and could thus lead to habitat selection. A constantly changing picture of behavioural events emerges.
