Abstract: | A process to obtain optically pure l-alanine has been developed using batch and continuous stirred tank reactors with a new l-aminoacylase-producing bacterium Pseudomonas sp. BA2 immobilized in calcium alginate beads coated with glutaraldehyde. The maximum production of l-alanine in a continuous stirred tank reactor was 11.26 g after 2 days of operation which is higher than that previously reported. |
