Abstract: | A flow cytometric method was developed, which allows fast and efficient analysis of cell cultures infected with chlamydiae. The proportion of positive cells increased with the infectious dose and correlated with chlamydia copy numbers calculated from real-time PCR. While retaining the advantages of single-cell analysis, flow cytometry allows handling of large sample numbers and counterstaining for additional marker proteins. |
