Abstract: | Summary The influence of several biocompatible antifoam agents on the performance of ultrafiltration membranes for yeast cell concentration is described. Flux rates of water solutions and cell suspensions decreased in the presence of the antifoam agents. The anti-foam fouling effect was cumulative. Water was ineffective as a cleaning substance, while 0.1 NaOH and ethanol were used successfully for membrane washing. |
