| Abstract: | Multifunctional activity of the PDX1 gene product is reviewed. The PDX1 protein is unique in that being expressed exclusively in the pancreas it exhibits various functional activities in this organ both during embryonic development and during induction and progression of pancreatic cancer. Hence, PDX1 belongs to the family of master regulators with multiple and often antagonistic functions. |
