| Abstract: | Under greenhouse conditions, Epidendrum nocturnum Jacq. plantsproduce fruits by both self-fertilization and cleistogamy. Althoughadapted to these reproductive processes the species respondalso to cross-pollination. Seeds without embryos and with oneembryo are usual but occasionally seeds with two, three or fourembryos are produced. Multiple embryos are formed by polyembryonyand apomixis.
