| Abstract: | The Ran GTPase drives nucleocytoplasmic transport, stabilizes mitotic spindles, and catalyzes nuclear envelope formation. A unifying explanation of these functions is that RanGTP produces an organizing field or "atmosphere" around chromatin and acts as a spatial marker. This RanGTP field has now been visualized using fluorescent biosensors. |
