The Effect of Some Growth-regulating Substances on the Development of Sclerotium rolfsii (Sacc.)
Authors:LAVEE   S.
Abstract:Experiments were carried out in order to establish the effectof some growth regulators on the development of Sclerotium rolfsii.Triethanolamine was found to be physiologically active; coumarin, maleic hydrazide, and triethanolamine cause pronounced inhibitionof germination of sclerotia and reduction in the number of sclerotiaper culture. Coumarin in concentrations of 50–100 p.p.m.increased the size of the developing sclerotia. {alpha}-Naphthylaceticacid inhibited germination but had a promoting effect on thedevelopment of sclerotia. In concentrations of 50–100p.p.m. it caused a more compact and dense development of themycelium and lowered the rate of growth.
