Abstract: | The study of the primitive gerbil remains of Pseudomeriones, recovered from the micromammalian sites of Paliambela-B and Monasteri (Latest Miocene, Northern Greece), gives evidence for a new species, which is characterized by its large size and simple molar morphology. A cladistic analysis based on dental characters affiliates this form with P. rhodius and P. pythagorasi and enables an intrageneric phylogenetic scenario. |
