| Abstract: | Chick embryo histone labeled with 14C-leucine was shown to penetrate into the cell and to concentrate around nucleoli. Both kinds of histone, isolated from chick embryos and from calf thymus, equally suppressed the RNA synthesis in chick fibroblasts. Less inhibition of RNA synthesis was observed in HEp-2 cells.It was shown that actinomycin and histone produced the additive inhibitory effect on RNA synthesis in tissue culture cells. |
