Species attribution and distinguishing strains of Oenococcus oeni isolated from Chinese wines

Abstract:Summary Twenty-four strains of Oenococcus oeni were isolated from different Chinese wines. Differentiation of isolates was carried out by analysis of total soluble cell protein patterns and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) patterns. The results indicated that the total soluble cell protein patterns could be used to distinguish different genera but fail to distinguish different strains. It was also found that strain RAPD pattern can successfully distinguish isolates by UPGMA analysis. The RAPD profiles (107 different prints) were strain specific and two main groups of strains were screened.
