Abstract: | The alkaline phosphatases comprise a multigene enzyme family that hydolyze phosphate esters and are widely distributed in nature. Three main classes have been isolated from humans, the placental, intestinal, and liver/bone/kidney forms. We have mapped the placental and intestinal alkaline phosphatase genes to 2q34-q37 by using chromosomal in situ hybridization and a somatic-cell hybrid panel. |
