It is now possible to provide direct evidence fornet removal of significant amounts of specific amino acids fromnaturally occurring dissolved organic material by a marine invertebrate.This demonstration serves to focus attention and invite reconsiderationof the large body of less direct evidence supporting the generaloccurrence of this capacity among soft-bodied marine invertebrates. |
