| Abstract: | The construction of a closing device to be used during the deploymentof phyto-zooplankton nets utilizing General Oceanics-type opening/closingmechanisms is described. This device (the cowl) decreases systemset-up time, decreases contamination from ambient particleswhile waiting for deployment, protects the net from mechanicaltears during descent, and increases system reliability.
