Abstract: | Summary Bovine serum albumin (BSA) was recovered from water/Aerosol-OT (Sodium bis [2-ethylhexyl] sulfosuccinate)/isooctane water-in-oil microemulsion solution as a solid precipitate that was virtually free of surfactant by the addition of isooctane or 0.01 v/v 1-butanol. The recovery was greater when the fractional occupancy of BSA was higher and the extent of dilution greater. Proteins which interact with the microemulsion interface are more likely to be recovered. |
