Stimulation of Spore Discharge by Reduced Humidity in Sordaria

An account is given of experiments on the effect of the humidityof an ambient air-stream on spore discharge in Sordaria fimicola.Change from saturated to dry (35 per cent. R. H.) conditionsinvariably led to a striking increase in the rate of spore discharge,and conversely change from dry to damp conditions produced amarked decrease.
