Abstract: | Spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, X-ray analysis, and thermal conductometry were applied to specimens of molluscan shells, peacock feather barbules, and human horny tissue. These objects were found to contain ordered superstructures apparently interacting with electromagnetic and electronic waves and thereby exhibiting photonic and semiconductor properties. |
