Abstract: | CHO chromosomes, prepared for fluorescence microscopy, or for scanning electron microscopy, sometimes show a splitting of the centromere proper into two sister centromeres, with a space between them, while the sister chromatids are joined in the most proximal regions of the chromosome arms. It is suggested that this might represent the final stage of chromatid splitting before the anaphase separation of chromatids. |
