Abstract:Potentiometric and Spectroscopic studies of Ni(II) complexes with L-cysteine-containing ligands showed that the sulfhydryl group is a very effective donor in binding this metal ion. Very stable planar complexes are usually formed with a high tendency to polymerize. The complexes studied may also be used as Spectroscopic models of a metalloprotein site containing a Ni(II)-thiol bond.
