Abstract: | SYNOPSIS. Responses of wild type and mutant strains of Chlamydomonas reinhardi were studied in a simple but stable chemostat. No chlorosis was observed under conditions of phosphate, arginine or Na acetate limitation. Competition between wild type and the mutant strain y-2 was studied in continuous culture with phosphate as the limiting nutrient in continuous light, continuous dark and alternating periods of light and darkness. In all cases, the mutant strain y-2 overgrew the wild type. |
