Abstract: | Repair of spinal cord injury requires that severed axons are able to regenerate. Regrowth of axons is impeded by the loss of astrocytic pathways caused at the time of injury. Ensheathing glial cells cultured from the adult olfactory system can be transplanted into lesions and mediate both regeneration of axons and recovery of function. |
