Abstract: | Abscisic acid (ABA) at optimum concentrations promoted rootingof Phaseolus aureus ROXB. and Lycopersicon esculentum MILL,stem cuttings. In combination with IAA (indole-3-acetic acid)ABA has mostly given additive effects. Synergistic effect ofABA was noted on IBA ( -indolebutyric acid)-induced rooting ofLycopersicon cuttings. Rooting of Phaseolus vulgaris L. cuttingscompletely failed when ABA (50 mg/liter) was applied in combinationwith IBA or NAA ( -naphthaleneacetic acid). The results suggestthat abscisic acid may be an important natural regulator ofrooting in cuttings. (Received March 19, 1970; ) |
