Abstract: | The thermal inactivation point of a cytoplasmic-polyhedrosis virus of the alfalfa caterpillar, Colias eurytheme, is 85° C for 10 min. When reared at 35° C and fed the virus, the alfalfa-caterpillar larva resisted viral infection. At 23° C for 24 hr, and transferred to 35° C, most of the larvae developed uninfected, but when kept at 23° C for 72 hr, most of them were found infected by the virus. |
