The recent advances in the human intestinal Lactobacillus

Abstract:Lactobacillus is one of the important human intestinal microflora, it is closely related to the regulation of the intestinal system, the metabolism and the immune. Most of Lactobacillus are beneficial to human health and some of which have been classified as probiotics. For a long time, it has been the emphasis for intestinal micro-ecology area to explore the existence state and mechanism of action of Lactobacillus in the body. In this paper, we summarized the recent advances in the human intestinal Lactobacillus in terms of the species, the number and the function. It is worth noting that, based on modern molecular biological techniques, the proportion of Lactobacillus in the human gut is quite small. However, Lactobacillus play an irreplaceable role in the physiological function and the regulation to metabolic process. Moreover, we also discussed the content of research in this area needed to do to provide help for the further study
