Abstract:Eurema alitha (C. and R. Felder 1862) is confirmed as occurring in Australia. It is closely allied to E. hecabe (Linnaeus 1758) and has previously been confused in Australia with that species. Adults of both species are illustrated and the male genitalia figured and compared. the label data of all examined specimens (total of 130) are given and suggest that E. alitha is confined to the tropical areas of northern and northeastern Australia with adults occurring during most months of the year. the Australian population is tentatively assigned to the New Guinea subspecies E. a. novaguineensis Shiřzu and Yata, 1982.
