Abstract: | Preptetos cannoni n. sp. is described from Siganus lineatus from Heron Island on the southern Great Barrier Reef, Australia. Morphological features that are diagnostic of this species
include: a genital pore that is sinistral to the ventral sucker and vitelline follicles that reach anteriorly to at least
the bifurcation of the intestine. This is the first report of a species of the genus Preptetos from Australian waters and from fishes of the genus Siganus. |
