Age, growth and mortality of painted comber, Serranus scriba (Linnaeus, 1758), in the Trogir Bay area (eastern mid-Adriatic)

Population dynamics of 1482 specimens of painted comber, Serranus scriba (Linnaeus, 1758), caught in the Trogir Bay area (eastern mid‐Adriatic) from June 2001 to May 2002 were studied to provide information on age, growth, length–weight relationship, mortality and exploitation rate of the species’ stock. Annuli on otholiths indicated the presence of seven age‐classes. Obtained von Bertalanffy growth parameters were: L_∞ = 30.36 cm, K = 0.192 year^?1 and t₀ = ?0.366.
