Abstract: | The cellular features of mucoepidermoid carcinoma of submandibular gland origin observed in pleural fluid are presented. The pleural fluid contained predominantly atypical spheroid cell clusters accompanied by numerous mesothelial cells. The cells had round nuclei with conspicuous nucleoli, coarsely granular chromatin and abundant cytoplasm with vacuoles. The cellular features of the malignant cells in the pleural fluid were correlated with the histology of the parent lesion. |
