Physiological and biochemical changes in relation to inorganic nitrogen availability were studied for tank-cultivated Ulva rigida grown under nitrogen- enriched and nitrogen-depleted seawater. U. rigida was initially cultivated in nitrogen-enriched seawater (daily concentrations of NH4+ and NO3- + NO2- ranged between 0.5–1.7 and 0.06–0.15 mg L-1, respectively), then transferred to nitrogen-depleted seawater where photosynthetic capacity decreased to zero after 23 d. At the time (14 d) when photosynthetic rates were lower than 2.0 μmol O2 g-1 FW min-1 and strong bleaching had occurred, some algae were returned to the initial nitrogen-enriched seawater to study recovery from N-limited growth. Data on biochemical composition (chlorophylls, ash, caloric content, fatty acids and dietary fibres) and colouration varied significantly depending on the nitrogen conditions. C:N ratios correlated significantly with biochemical parameters. Fatty acid (FA) synthesis continued during the N-starvation period; saturated and mono-unsaturated FA increased to a maximun of 72.2%, while poly-unsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) decreased to 27.7%. During the N-enriched recovery period, the reverse was found. C:N ratios above 10 correlated with carbohydrate synthesis as shown by the dietary fibre level. Under nitrogen enriched conditions, C:N ratios decreased along with a decrease in fibre level. Under controlled conditions, nitrogen represents a major influence on the development of intensive tank cultivation of Ulva rigida, not only by affecting parameters closely related to nitrogen metabolism but also some clearly influenced by carbon uptake. 以四川4个地区2种丛生竹(慈竹和硬头黄)为研究对象,对其木质素和综纤维含量进行研究.结果表明,不同地区竹种间综纤维素含量差异显著;除青神地区外,其它几个地区木质素含量差异不大.纬度对木质素积累的作用因竹种而异,对慈竹木质素含量的作用呈极明显的正效应,对硬头黄的作用则呈不明显的正效应,对综纤维含量的影响不大.竹龄影响木质素和综纤维素含量的积累,对慈竹木质素和综纤维的积累呈显著的正效应,但对硬头黄的作用却不明显.研究认为,青神、长宁和绵阳地区的硬头黄以及长宁地区的慈竹是造纸的较好原料.  相似文献

采用方差/均值比率法和5个聚集度指标研究了陕西府谷自然保护区杜松(Juniperus rigida Sieb.etZucc.)种群15个样地的空间分布格局及动态特征。结果表明,杜松种群的空间分布格局为聚集分布,其v/m值、负二项参数、聚块性指数、丛生指数、平均拥挤度和Morisita指数分别为1.98、1.84、1.54、0.98、2.79和1.54。随着径级的增大,聚块性指数逐渐减小,种群的聚集程度也减小,Ⅶ级大树呈随机分布,该种群表现出明显的扩散趋势。调查发现,人为干扰对杜松种群的空间分布格局有较大影响。  相似文献

The electron transport rate (ETR) versus gross photosynthesis (GPS) relationship varies as a function of species, temperature, irradiance, and inorganic carbon levels, but less is known about the effect of nitrogen supply on this relationship. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of nitrate concentration on the ETR versus GPS relationship in Ulva rigida C. Agardh from the Mediterranean Sea. Chlorophyll content and tissue absorptance increased 2‐fold as nitrate in the media increased from 0 to 50 μM. Whereas internal N content increases 3‐fold at 50 μM, internal C increased slightly. Oxygen evolution and ETR, evaluated as in vivo chl fluorescence using pulse amplitude modulated fluorometry, in general saturated at irradiances above 100 μmol photons·m?2·s?1. Both maximum ETR and GPS values increased as nitrate concentration increased. In general, the ETR versus GPS relationship showed a linear response to increasing nitrate with little variance of the data. This relationship, however, became more variable at high irradiances and high nitrate concentrations. The ETR/GPS ratio was close to the theoretical value of 4 at low nitrate concentrations, and the ratio decreased exponentially when nitrate concentration in the media increased. The variations of ETR/GPS under different inorganic nitrogen supply are discussed in terms of the effect of nitrate on the photosynthesis and respiration relationship.  相似文献

Evidence about the potential of mobile marine invertebrates to act as algal spore dispersal agents is presently circumstantial. Using a field correlational and experimental protocol, our study tested the hypothesis that amphipods can increase the spore recruitment of the red alga Iridaea laminarioides Bory. Iridaea laminarioides spore recruitment onto glass slides was measured at a site with high amphipod abundance and a site with low density of amphipods. To evaluate the effect of an Ulva canopy on recruitment, replicated glass slides with and without a surrounding Ulva canopy were installed at both sites. The number of I. laminarioides spores recruited on the glass slides was four to eight times higher at the high amphipod abundance site than at the low density site. However, the presence of an Ulva canopy covering the glass slides did not significantly increase the recruitment of I. laminarioides. Because the abundance of I. laminarioides, the proportion of cystocarpic plants, and the percentage of open cystocarps only differed slightly between the low and high abundance amphipod sites, we suggest that the variation in recruitment between the sites is due to the differences in amphipod abundance (and their movements) and not to differences in spore production. Moreover, the presence of I. laminarioides cystocarps showing amphipod grazing scars was significantly higher at the high amphipod density site than at the low density site.  相似文献

Abstract

A cecidomyiid that feeds on developing seeds in the inflorescences of the New Zealand tussock grasses Chionochloa australis, C. conspicua, C. crassiuscula, C.flavescens, C. macra, C. oreophila, C. pallens, C. rigida, C. rubra, C. spiralis and C. teretifolia is formally described from C. pallens. The new species, named Eucalyptodiplosis chionochloae Kolesik, is the most ubiquitous of flower feeders of Chionochloa. Its larvae do not form galls but feed on the developing seeds in autumn, overwinter as diapausing larvae inside the floret, and pupate then rapidly eclose in summer, sometimes after extended diapause. Methods for rearing adults are described. Based on its morphological characters this species is most closely related to two described congeners that form galls on buds of Eucalyptus trees in Australia. Seed predation by Eucalyptodiplosis chionochloae larvae appears to be the primary driver of the extreme mast seeding (variation among years in flower crops) seen in the host Chionochloa species.  相似文献

In the present study, the volatile composition of Ulva rigida (U. rigida) was elucidated by two different methods. As a result of the identification process of volatile components using the GC/MS-FID instrument, 31 compounds were identified by hydrodistillation (HD) method, and 15 compounds were identified by solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method, elucidating the structure of 99.86 % and 92.65 %, respectively. The most abundant compounds in the essential oil of U. rigida were n-hexadecanoic acid and pentadecanal, while the most abundant compound according to the SPME analysis was heptadecyne, a hydrocarbon compound. In the next step, hexane, dichloromethane, chloroform and methanol solvent extracts of U. rigida were prepared and the antimicrobial activities of the extracts and the essential oil obtained by hydro-distillation as well as the scolicidal activities of the solvent extracts were determined. The results of the antimicrobial activity test of the essential oil showed a high level of activity against Bacillus cereus ATCC 10876 and MRSA. The highest activity was found on the microorganism of Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 9027 in chloroform and methanol extracts of U. rigida. Furthermore, viability detection was performed and the scolicidal effects of the extracts on protoscoleces were assessed. The values of lethal concentration doses (LD50, LD75 and LD90) were calculated using probit analysis.  相似文献

A destructive disease affecting tank-cultivated Ulva rigida C. Agardh. was characterized by green spots, initially located at the base of the thalli, that spread through the host thallus and gradually caused perforations of the frond. The endophytic filamentous green alga Acrochaete geniculata (Gardner) O'Kelly was identified as the causative agent of the disease. The effects of this infection on the host varied from minor injuries to gross frond destruction. Advanced stages of infection resulted in frond wrinkling and severe tissue loss. These symptoms were caused by a primary compaction of the host cells due to a direct effect of the endophyte followed by secondary bacterial infections that became part of the degradative process initiated by the algal pathogen. Co-cultivation of healthy and diseased fronds resulted in transfer of the infection within 2 weeks; however, attempts to infect the host in the laboratory with actively reproducing suspensions of the endophyte were unsuccessful.  相似文献
