This paper presents new data about Early Permian (Cisuralian) strata, palynostratigraphy and absolute dating from the Copacabana Formation in central Bolivia. Recent stratigraphic and palynologic data from marine and transitional rocks at Apillapampa refine the age of Cisuralian palynomorphs in South America. Twelve samples interbedded with five volcanic ashes (processed and productive) yielded 94 palynomorph species arranged in two informal palynoassemblages: the lower assemblage Vittatina costabilis corresponds to one sample near the base of the Copacabana Formation and the upper Lueckisporites virkkiae assemblage occurs in overlying marine and coal-bearing transitional intervals. Ages were also independently refined by a modern review of conodonts, fusulinids, along with those U–Pb radiometric ages (Isotope Dilution Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry [ID-TIMS] of zircon-bearing interbedded tuffs). These data suggest that the lower marine member of the Copacabana Formation at this location is Asselian and Sakmarian. Lueckisporites virkkiae is a key species of palynomorph utilised in South American and global Permian biostratigraphic reconstructions. Hence, a thorough global comparison of these palynofloras and correlations is addressed in this contribution, considering first appearances of mainly cosmopolitan diagnostic taxa. Correlations are established with many similar Permian palynofloras, some also constrained with radiometric data, in South America (Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina) and elsewhere.  相似文献

We investigated a palynological section from middle Miocene sediments at Eskihisar (south‐western Anatolia) to establish biogeographic links of the palynoflora and to infer the palaeoenvironment. Four algal palynomorphs, nine spore taxa, eight gymnosperms, three monocots and 67 dicot pollen types were encountered and investigated using the ‘single grain method’ that combines light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Two pollen zones reflect different phases of basin development. Zonal vegetation remained fairly stable across the section and reflects heterogeneous environments including broad‐leaved deciduous forest, subtropical forest and sclerophyllous and semi‐evergreen oak forest. Conifers were accessory elements in the broad‐leaved deciduous forest communities and replaced these at higher elevations. Some herbaceous taxa (Plumbaginaceae) indicate scattered occurrences of sandy and/or rocky soils. Biogeographic affinities are general Northern Hemisphere, North American and East Asian, as also suggested by the macrofossil record. Only two taxa provide potential biogeographic links with the African flora. This suggests that biome shifts of plant taxa between African subtropical/tropical biomes and Anatolian (western Eurasian) temperate forests and shrublands may have been rare in the middle Miocene.  相似文献

In the pond of Lobsigensee (2 ha, on the Swiss Plateau) lithostratigraphic and palynostratigraphic units for the Late-glacial and the Holocene have been described. During the Late-Glacial the sediment types are mainly controlled by climate (the end of clay deposition coincides with the end of the Oldest Dryas, i.e. with reforestation at the beginning of Bölling) or by facies (lake marl in the littoral, gyttja in the profundal during Bölling and Alleröd). During the Holocene the facies and the changes in the trophic status, partly combined with water level changes, seem to determine the types of sediment. Two phases of natural eutrophication are deduced from laminated sections during the Boreal and the early Older Atlantic. Towards the end of the Younger Atlantic an early example of a probably anthropogenic eutrophication is found in the layers contemporaneous with the neolithic settlement of the Cortaillod culture. Since the Roman colonization the amount of erosional input has markedly increased.  相似文献
