A new species of Gesneriaceae, Hemiboea rubribracteata Z. Y. Li & Yan Liu, is described from Guangxi, China. The new species is similar to H. cavaleriei Lévl. in its leaf form, but differs by its robust and rigid stem, red involucre, longer calyx lobes, corolla white and glabrous outside, lower lip of corolla 3-lobed to middle.

Long-term clinical observations and ongoing studies have shown antitumor effects of external Qi of Yan Xin Qigong (YXQG-EQ)
that originated from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In order to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the antitumor
effects of YXQG-EQ, we investigate the effects of YXQG-EQ on growth and apoptosis in androgen-independent prostate cancer
PC3 cells. We found that exposure to YXQG-EQ led to G2/M arrest associated with reduced cyclin B1 expression and apoptosis
in PC3 cells. YXQG-EQ treatment inhibited constitutive and epidermal growth factor-induced Akt phosphorylation, basal and
TNF-α-induced NF-κB activation, and downregulated anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL expression. In contrast, exposure to YXQG-EQ
increased phosphorylation of Akt and Erk1/2 in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC), and had no cytotoxic effect
on either HUVEC or peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC). These results indicate that YXQG-EQ has profound effects on
growth and apoptosis of prostate cancer cells by targeting survival pathways including the Akt and NF-κB pathways. 相似文献

目的 :研究四味镇痛中药对内腓肽降解酶的作用。方法 :从大鼠的肾脏制备含有内腓肽降解酶的物质 ,建立内腓肽降解酶活性检测模型 ;并用此模型观察四味镇痛中药提取物对内腓肽降解酶特别是对中性内肽酶活性 (NEP2 4 .11)的抑制作用。结果 :(1)钩藤和羌活的水提物显示很强的NEP2 4 11酶抑制作用 ;(2 )无论是有机提取物还是水提物 ,延胡索和川芎对NEP2 4 11的抑制作用都弱于钩藤和羌活 ;(3)钩藤和羌活不仅是氨肽酶和中性内肽酶的双重抑制剂 ,而且是氨肽酶、中性内肽酶和血管紧张素转化酶的三重抑制剂。结论 :四味镇痛中药具有不同的镇痛机制 ,其中 ,钩藤和羌活通过抑制氨肽酶和中性内肽酶而发挥镇痛作用 相似文献

The inflammatory microenvironment plays a critical role in the development and progression of malignancies. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of lymphocyte-related inflammation and immune-based prognostic scores in patients with chordoma after radical resection, including the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII). A total of 172 consecutive patients with chordoma who underwent radical resection were reviewed. R software was used to randomly select 86 chordoma patients as a training set and 86 chordoma patients as a validation set. Potential prognostic factors were also identified, including age, sex, tumor localization, KPS, Enneking stage, tumor size, and tumor metastasis. Overall survival (OS) was calculated using the Kaplan–Meier method and multivariate Cox regression analyses. NLR, PLR, SII, Enneking stage, tumor differentiation and tumor metastasis were identified as significant factors from the univariate analysis in both the training and validation sets and were subjected to multivariate Cox proportional hazards analysis. The univariate analysis showed that NLR ≥1.65, PLR ≥121, and SII ≥370×109/L were significantly associated with poor OS. In the multivariate Cox proportional hazard analysis, SII, Enneking stage and tumor metastasis were significantly associated with OS. As noninvasive, low-cost, reproducible prognostic biomarkers, NLR, PLR and SII could help predict poor prognosis in patients with chordoma after radical resection. This finding may contribute to the development of more effective tailored therapy according to the characteristics of individual tumors. 相似文献
