Spanish salt lakes: Their chemistry and biota 总被引:9,自引:9,他引:0
A large number of small saline lakes are distributed throughout Spain. Four main lake districts occur from sea level to 1000 m.a.s.l. Most lakes are temporary because of the arid conditions in the Spanish endorheic areas. Many lakes are situated in Tertiary depressions in NE. and S. Spain. Lake basins were formed in karstic areas by hydrologic and aeolian erosion. Saline lakes in NE. Spain occupy areas isolated between river basins. The major ions encountered in these lakes are usually sodium-chloride and magnesium-sulphate; sodium carbonate or sodium-sulphate rich waters also occur.The biota of Spanish salt lakes is related to that of a larger biogeographical region which includes the Mediterranean countries. The main types of salt lakes in Spain include: (1) temporarily mineralized but not highly saline lakes, salinity is less than 7 g l-1. Chara canescens, C. aspera, Zanichellia palustris, Daphnia atkinsoni, Mixodiaptomus incrassatus and Arctodiaptomus wierzejskii are the most characteristic organisms. (2) Temporary salt lakes, salinity fluctuates between 7 and 300 g l-1. Chara galioides, Lamprothamnion papulosum, Daphnia mediterranea, Arctodiaptomus salinus and Cletocamptus retrogressus are the most common species. (3) Permanent salt lakes, Ruppia maritima, Najas marina and Artemia salina are the characteristic organisms. 相似文献

Summary A re-examination of earlier NPK fertilization experiments in Douglas fir stands on sandy soils shows the effects of high nitrogen
input by air pollution during the last 10–15 years on plant nutrition at these sites. In 1960, experimental plots showed a
positive growth reaction to nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilization. All suffered from severe phosphorus deficiency
in 1984, low phosphorus in the needles was invariably accompanied by a high nitrogen content, with all N/P ratios between
20 and 30. The same conclusion emerges from an independent investigation of nutrient status of a selection of Douglas fir
stands. Hence, if stand productivity and a balanced nutrient status of the trees is to be maintained, the increase in atmospheric
input of nitrogen calls for supplementary fertilization. Given the current N/P ratios in the needles, a positive growth response

Summary The amounts of self-fertilization versus consanguineous matings (as measured by effective selfing) was estimated in a seed orchard of Douglas-fir, using progeny array data at six allozyme loci. The orchard is family structured, consisting several grafts (clones) and/or open-pollinated (o-p) progeny from each of several plus-trees. Population-wide selfing rates were found to be 7% for the o-p trees and 2% for the cloned trees. Estimates of mating system parameters for individual trees showed this difference for average outcrossing rate t (1) still largely remained when outcrossingpollen gene frequency p was not allowed to vary among trees and (2) disappeared when p was allowed to vary among trees. Under this joint t and p estimation, o-p trees showed both significant variation of t (based upon a one-way ANOVA grouped by common plus-tree) and significant regressions of p on ovule genotype (indicative of consanguineous matings); cloned trees showed neither. This higher rate of consanguineous mating for o-p trees might be explained by the larger and more variable size of o-p families in the orchard. Estimates of outcrossing rate t and outcrossingpollen gene frequency p were based upon a multilocus model which makes full use of the information in the data. The increased information it gives over observed outcross models is equivalent to adding 30–50% more loci, and it gives enough degrees of freedom to jointly estimate t and p for individual trees (individual progeny arrays) under certain conditions. Carbon isotope fractionation in tree ring early and late wood in relation to intra-growing season water balance 总被引:8,自引:3,他引:5
We determined the stable carbon isotope composition (δ1.3C) of cellulose extracted from early and late wood in Douglas fir [Pseudotsuga menziexii (Mirb.) Franco] tree rings. Data were obtained for the period 1962 to 1981, at the start of which the trees were 20 years old. A water balance model was used to calculate daily stand transpiration and water deficit. The model incorporates site factors (soil water availability, slope and aspect) and environmental variables (solar radiation, air temperature and rainfall). There was far greater variability in late wood than in early wood δ1.3C. In wet years, late wood δ1.3C was significantly lighter (by as much as 2δ) than early wood δ1.3C but in dry years this difference was reversed. Differences between spring and summer cumulative transpiration accounted for almost 60δ of the variability in differences between early and late wood δ1.3C. We found excellent correspondence between summer cumulative transpiration and late wood δ1.3C, with estimates of transpiration accounting for up to 93% of the variability in δ1.3C. Correlations between early wood δ1.3C and spring transpiration were generally poor (r2<0.4), but we were able to identify those exceptional years in which there had been a very dry spring. Our results indicate that, while tree ring δ1.3C correlates reasonably well with basal area increment, it is a far better indicator of inter- and intra-annual variability in water availability than radial growth. 相似文献

Phenology and anatomy of the reproductive phase of Abies pinsapo were studied. Male cones and female cones were differentiated in the autumn, and the dormant microsporangia contained pollen mother cells (PMCs) in the premeiotic stage. The male cones broke dormancy at the end of February when the pollen mother cells began meiosis. Pollen grains were shed at the five-celled stage at the end of April-early May. The female cones broke dormancy in mid-April. Anthesis took place at the end of April. No micropylar-pollination droplet was observed. After pollination the female cones developed quickly. The most important loss of cones occurred during the pollination period. The number of archegonia varied from one to three but two was most common. Fertilization took place at the end of June. The embryos developed during the summer, and seeds were dispersed in autumn. The results are discussed in relation to other conifers. 相似文献

Physiological effects of five months exposure to low concentrations of O3 and NH3 on Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Three years old seedlings of Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) were exposed lo filtered air, O3 (day and night concentrations of 78 and 30 μgm?3: respectively). NH3 (54 μg m?3) and to a mixture of NH3+O3 (day and night concentrations of 49 + 83 and 49 + 44 μg m?3 respectively), for 5 months in fumigation chambers. Both gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence were measured on shoots which had sprouted at the beginning of the exposure period. After 4. 8, 10 and 20 weeks of exposure, light response curves of electron transport rate (J) were determined, in which J was deduced from chlorophyll fluorescence. Net CO2 assimiialion was measured at maximum light intensity of 560) μmol m?2 S?1 (Pn.560). After 8 and 10 weeks of exposure also light response curves of CO2 assimilation were assessed. Shoots exposed to O3 showed a reduction in net CO2 assimilation as compared to the control shoots during the entire exposure period. The reduction was related lo a lower chlorophyll content and a lower electron transport rate, whereas no effect on quantum yield efficiency (qy) was observed. In contrast, shoots exposed to NH3 showed a positive effect on photosynthesis. Shoots exposed to NH3. + O3 showed a rapid increase in Pn.560, in the period between 4 and 8 weeks to a level equal of that of the NH3-treatment. After this period a decline in Pn.560 was observed. After 10 weeks of exposure shoots exposed to O3 showed an increased transpiration rate in the dark as compared to the control shoots. In addition, water use efficiency (WUE) declined as a result of an increase in leaf conductance. Both observations indicate that the stomatal apparatus was affected by O3. A high transpiration rate in the dark was also found for shoots esposed to NHX. However, shoots exposed to NH3+ O3 showed neither an effect on WUE, nor an effect on transpiration rate in the dark. The possibility that NH3 delayed the O3 induced effects on photosynthesis and stomatal conductance is discussed. 相似文献

本文应用DCA二维散点非等级制分类和TWINSPAN等级制分类的方法进行了四川西北部和甘肃南部云冷杉林的数量分类,共划分出15个群丛,分属于云杉、冷杉、高山栎和桦木四个群系,并分别讨论了各群丛的特征。用DCA二维散点的非等级制分类与TWINSPAN的等级制分类的方法对于云冷杉植物群落都产生了较好且一致的分类效果。通过TWINSPAN分类的研究,发现了对生境有指示意义的特征种和指示种,主要的植物种类有:圆叶菝契、网状小壁等(冷湿,指示藓类冷杉林和杜鹃冷杉林);小花拂子茅、箭炉樱等(冷旱,指示草类云杉林和箭竹云冷杉林);槭树、铁杉、沛阳花等(暖湿,指示落阔冷杉林和灌木云杉林等);罗氏异燕麦、华西矮卫茅、糙野青茅和狭叶柳兰等(暖旱,指示灌木云杉林和云冷杉疏林)。 相似文献

Summary Effects of P fertilizers on growth of Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii var.menziesii (Mirb.) Franco.) seedlings were examined in pots and nursery beds. In pot experiments levels of P equivalent to 300 kg/ha were adequate for maximum growth over 14–18 weeks and resulted in available soil P levels of 80 ppm after 15 weeks' growth. Maximum growth in pots was obtained with shoot P concentrations of 0.18%–0.20%, with higher values at lower temperatures, but the optimum concentration for one-year old (1-0) nursery seedlings was 0.16% P. Growth of seedlings was greatly restricted at a soil temperature of 5°C and an air temperature of 12°C. At a soil temperature of 10°C and an air temperature of 14°C seedling P requirement was greater than at soil and air temperatures of 20°C.Comparison showed that monammonium phosphate was more effective than calcium superphosphate in stimulating growth in pots and nursery. Triple superphosphate was also effective in the nursery. Diammonium phosphate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate and phosphoric acid had no advantages as P sources in the nursery. Available P levels of 100–130 ppm, in the loamy sand and sandy loam nurseries studied, and needle P concentrations of 0.18%, when sampled in October, were associated with maximum growth of two-year old (2-0) seedlings.P fertilization decreased root/shoot ratio, but did not alter the allometric relationship of shoot to root. Improving P status from a low level increased root growth capacity in 2-0 seedlings and P fertilization of potted seedlings increased dry weight/height ratio. Uptakes per seed bed ha of 236 kg N, 31 kg P, 81 kg K and 73 kg Ca by 2-0 seedlings were comparable with, or greater than, uptake rates of agricultural crops.
