In order to evaluate the importance of growth of mosses in controlling evaporative water loss, the evaporation rates of some subalpine moss species of various growth forms were compared with each other. The growth forms of the xerophytic species examined were large cushion and compact mat, while those of the mesophytic species in the coniferous forest floor were smooth mat, weft and tall turf. The evaporation rate per moss dry weight (Ew) was much smaller in the xerophytic species than in the mesophytic species. However, the evaporation rate per basal area of moss colony (Ea) was not necessarily smaller in the xerophytic species. The relation between Ea and dry weight per basal area of the colony (Wa) had a close correlation with the growth form. It was concluded that the difference in the evaporation rate per weight between the exerophytic species and the mesophytic species was largely due to the difference in Wa, and that the growth forms of the xerophytic species were suitable for increasing Wa without increasing surface roughness.  相似文献

Mercury evaporation from undisturbed iron‐humus podzol lysimeters was measured over 3 months after treatment with HgCl2 spiked with radioactive 203Hg. The relative evaporation rate from HgCl2 treated soils followed the sum of two exponential functions. Because evaporation asymptotically approaches zero with time, the integral of the fit curve represents the evaporative loss in percent of atmospheric deposition. For the soil investigated, about 5% of atmospheric Hg deposition was reemitted into the atmosphere. It is hypothesized that mercury evaporation can decrease the leaching of mercury in and from soil significantly; this effect is probably increasing with decreasing rain acidity or soil acidity. Mercury deposited as soluble salt remains susceptible to reemission to air for 300 d after incorporation into the soil matrix. Indications are found that Hg evaporation from soils in geological background areas predominantly derives from recent atmospheric Hg deposition and not from geological sources.  相似文献

Slow evaporation method was used to grow the pure and K+ ion doped L-Lysine monohydrochloride (L-LMHCL) crystals which has optical and antibiotic applications. The space group, structure and slight shifting of peaks are confirmed using single crystal XRD and the powder XRD. The FTIR analysis also shows that the K+ doped L-LMHCL has a slight shifting in the spectrum which indicates the functional group of L-LMHCL and the interaction between the K+ ions. The existence of K+ ion in the doped crystal is assured by the presence of potassium in the EDAX spectrum. The wide optical band gap was found for pure and K+ doped crystal using UV spectra and these are utilized in optoelectronic and nonlinear applications. The Kurtz Perry technique specified the NLO property of grown crystals. The dielectric property crystals was studied by varying the temperature. As a result, the highest dielectric constant is observed in doped crystal. An antibacterial activity against certain bacteria like E-coli, pseudomonas aeruginosa and staphylococcus aureus are provided by mm range for the grown crystals.  相似文献

In marine fish larviculture the live feed organisms are often enriched in order to enhance their nutritional value. One of the challenges is to enhance the phospholipids (PL) content, and another is to enhance the content of specific water soluble nutrients, like free amino acids (FAA). There are a few studies where this has been achieved by the use of liposomes. The aim of this study was to develop a simple method for mass-production of liposomes within a size range of 1–5 μm a size range suitable to feed live food organisms. Furthermore, the liposomes should have a high FAA concentration and be stable under conditions typical for short-time enrichment of live feed organisms. The method used in the present study is based on a combination of a reverse-phase evaporation method for preparing liposomes and re-hydration of freeze-dried, empty liposomes. The liposomal membrane was made of soy phosphatydilcholine and was loaded with a highly concentrated free amino acids solution. Most of the liposomes produced were 2–8 μm in diameter and the FAA encapsulation efficiency was 42.6%. Two experiments simulating 2 hr of live food enrichment were used to evaluate the liposomes. The results showed the liposome did not disintegrate or aggregate when suspended in seawater and that only 9% of the FAA content of the liposomes was lost after 2 hr suspension. The developed method was easy and reliable, producing tens of grams of liposomes per batch.  相似文献

水分是限制干旱与半干旱地区植被恢复和农业发展的最重要因素之一,减少土壤水分无效蒸发损失可提高水分利用效率。凹凸棒土(ATP)作为一种黏土矿物,其亲水性和吸附性对限制土壤蒸发具有重要作用。本研究选取黄土高原干旱与半干旱区3种不同质地的典型土壤(黑垆土、黄绵土、风沙土),设置5种ATP添加量(0%、1%、2%、3%、4%),使用微型蒸发器在自然条件下进行土壤蒸发试验,探究ATP添加对不同土壤蒸发过程和蒸发面裂缝特征的影响。结果表明: 当ATP添加量<3%时,在同一种土壤下累积蒸发量与蒸发损失率随ATP添加量的增加而减小;ATP添加量为3%时,黑垆土、风沙土的累积蒸发量和蒸发损失率均减小,黄绵土的累积蒸发量和蒸发损失率增加;ATP添加量为4%时,黑垆土的累积蒸发量减小、蒸发损失率增加,风沙土的累积蒸发量增加、蒸发损失率减小,黄绵土的累积蒸发量和蒸发损失率均减小。不同土壤平均累积蒸发量表现为:黑垆土>黄绵土>风沙土。在同一种土壤的整个蒸发过程中,施加ATP处理的土壤含水量始终高于对照。累积蒸发量与时间平方根关系的模拟结果表明,蒸发结束时ATP处理下土壤样品可以释放的水量高于对照。添加ATP后黑垆土和黄绵土的裂缝面密度显著增加,风沙土裂缝面密度随ATP添加量的增加而增加,3种土壤的裂缝面密度在ATP添加量为4%时均达到最大值。ATP添加量为3%时可以在最大程度上减少土壤水分无效蒸发。  相似文献

This paper describes the formulation of a biodegradable microparticulate drug delivery system containing clodronate, a bisphosphonate intended for the treatment of bone diseases. Microspheres were prepared with several poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) copolymers of various molecular weights and molar compositions and 1 poly(D,L-lactide) (PDLLA) homopolymer by a water-in-oil-in-water (w/o/w) double emulsion solvent evaporation procedure. Critical process parameters and formulation variables (ie, addition of stabilizing agents) were evaluated for their effect on drug encapsulation efficiency and clodronate release rate from microparticles Well-formed clodronate-loaded microspheres were obtained for all polymers by selecting suitable process parameters (inner water/oil volume ratio 1∶16, temperature-raising rate in the solvent evaporation step 1°C/min, 2% wt/vol NaCl in the external aqueous phase). Good yields were obtained in all batches of clodronate microspheres (above 60%); drug encapsulation efficiencies ranged between 49% and 75% depending on the polymer used. Clodronate release from all copolymer microspheres was completed in about 48 hours, while those from PDLLA microspheres required about 20 days. The change of microsphere composition by adding a surfactant such as Span 20 or a viscosing agent such as carboxymethylcellulose extended the long-term release up to 3 months. Clodronate was successfully entrapped in PLGA and PDLLA microspheres, and drug release could be modulated from 48 hours up to 3 months by suitable selection of polymer, composition, additives, and manufacturing conditions. The stable isotopic composition of soil water is controlled by precipitation inputs, antecedent conditions, and evaporative losses. Because transpiration does not fractionate soil water isotopes, the relative proportions of evaporation and transpiration can be estimated using a simple isotopic mass balance approach. At our site in the shortgrass steppe in semi-arid northeastern Colorado, 18O values of soil water were almost always more enriched than those of precipitation inputs, owing to evaporative losses. The proportion of water lost by evaporation (E/ET) during the growing season ranged from nil to about 40% (to >90% in the dormant season), and was related to the timing of precipitation inputs. The sum of transpiration plus evaporation losses estimated by isotopic mass balance were similar to actual evapotranspiration measured from a nearby Bowen ratio system. We also investigated the evapotranspiration response of this mixed C3/C4 grassland to doubled atmospheric [CO2] using Open-Top Chambers (OTC). Elevated atmospheric [CO2] led to increased soil-water conservation via reduced stomatal conductance, despite greater biomass growth. We used a non-invasive method to measure the 18O of soil CO2 as a proxy for soil water, after establishing a strong relationship between 18O of soil CO2 from non-chambered control (NC) plots and 18O of soil–water from an adjacent area of native grassland. Soil–CO2 18O values showed significant treatment effects, particularly during a dry summer: values in ambient chambers (AC) were more enriched than in NC and elevated chamber (EC) plots. During the dry growing season of 2000, transpiration from the EC treatment was higher than from AC and lower than from NC treatments, but during 2001, transpiration was similar on all three treatments. Slightly higher evaporation rates from AC than either EC or NC treatments in 2000 may have resulted from increased convection across the soil surface from the OTC blowers, combined with lower biomass and litter cover on the AC treatment. Transpiration-use efficiency, or the amount of above-ground biomass produced per mm water transpired, was always greatest on EC and lowest on NC treatments.  相似文献

Hydrophobic surfactants at the air–sea interface can retard evaporative and gaseous exchange between the atmosphere and the ocean. While numerous studies have examined the metabolic role of bacterioneuston at the air–sea interface, the interactions between hydrophobic surfactants and bacterioplankton are not well constrained. A novel experimental design was developed, using Vibrio natriegens and 3H-labelled hexadecanoic acid tracer, to determine how the bacterial metabolism of fatty acids affects evaporative fluxes. In abiotic systems, >92% of the added hexadecanoic acid remained at the air–water interface. In contrast, the presence of V. natriegens cells draws down insoluble hexadecanoic acid from the air–water interface as an exponential function of time. The exponents characterizing the removal of hexadecanoic acid from the interface co-vary with the concentration of V. natriegens cells in the underlying water, with the largest exponent corresponding to the highest cell abundance. Radiochemical budgets show that evaporative fluxes from the system are linearly proportional to the quantity of hexadecanoic acid at the interface. Thus, bacterioplankton could influence the rate of evaporation and gas transfer in the ocean through the metabolism of otherwise insoluble surfactants.  相似文献

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of different concentrations of polymer and sucrose stearate, aluminum tristearate as dispersing agents on microsphere properties and performance. The yield values of microspheres were over the 78%, and the encapsulation efficiencies were found to be ∼735. Particle sizes of microspheres prepared with aluminum tristearate were between 76 and 448 μm, while that of the microspheres containing sucrose stearate were between 521 and 2000 μm. Morphological and physicochemical properties of microspheres were investigated by scanning electron micrography and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). DSC analysis indicated that verapamil hydrochloride formed a solid solution with acrylic polymers. In vitro release studies were performed using the flow-through cell method. While ∼80% of drug was released from the microspheres containing aluminum tristearate in 480 minutes, the same amount of drug was released from microspheres containing sucrose stearate in only 60 minutes. Chemical structures and concentrations of the dispersing agents were clearly effective on the physical properties of microspheres and their drug-release characteristics.
