The quality of Cucurbita pepo L. pollen was studied using field pollinations and the fluorochromatic-reaction test. The extreme sensitivity of this pollen to dehydration and ageing is demonstrated. Controlled stress applied to mature pollen leads to the development of seedless fruits. Molecular signals seem to be involved in the induction of this parthenocarpy. These results indicate the existence of distinct sequences involved in the completion of the fertilization program of pollen. With pollen altered by stress, the fertilization process may be stopped at different stages of its completion. We bring evidence that Cucurbita pepo plants have developed special adaptations in order to compensate for the poor viability of their pollen.Abbreviation FCR fluorochromatic reaction  相似文献

In nonparthenocarpic cucumber, analysis of the interaction between season and female receptivity demonstrated two different modes of fruit development and seed set. Spring climatic conditions induced significantly longer ovaries at anthesis with an autonomous fruit set as in natural parthenocarpy. Autumn climatic conditions induced smaller ovaries with fruit set influenced by the pollination stage of the female flower. These differences involve, during fruit development, a regulation of the empty seed number especially at both ends of female receptivity period. Indeed, seasons have no effect on ovule receptivity and fertility measured by full seed number. It is supposed that priority is given to seeds with an embryo in the competition for limited maternal resources in spring as well as in autumn. In spring, the use of irradiated pollen during the whole female receptivity period did not modify the seed set profile. Moreover, a cytological study of 6-day-old ovules pollinated by irradiated pollen has revealed a similar precocious embryogenesis compared to the control. In cucumber, pollination with irradiated pollen involves stenospermocarpy rather than induced parthenocarpy. However, we have not been able to determine whether the early abortive embryogenesis induced by irradiated pollen is gynogenetic or abnormal zygotic.  相似文献

Alleviation of frost damage to pear flowers by application of gibberellin   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Adverse effects of gibberellin applications on pear trees after frost such as small fruit size, abnormal fruit shape and poor return bloom are often attributed both to the sole use of GA3 and its overdose. It is unclear whether protection against spring frosts before flower opening is more efficient when GA is applied directly after frost, i.e. before flower opening, or at full bloom or both. In April 2003, early spring frosts at Klein-Altendorf near Bonn, Germany damaged ca. 88% flowers of the early flowering cv. Alexander Lucas, 64% of cv. Conference and ca. 25% of flowers of the later flowering cv. Comice pears. Hence, the objective of the present work was to investigate the optimum timing of the application of low doses of the combined GA3 and GA4 + 7 to improve parthenocarpic fruit set in pears, while maximising fruit quality and size for trees affected by a severe spring frost before full bloom. Return bloom was also considered and quantified. Frost-affected pear trees were treated with gibberellin GA3+GA4 + 7, either immediately after the frost, at the white bud stage, or at full bloom or both to improve parthenocarpic set. Early flowering cv. Alexander Lucas pear was most affected by the early spring frost, but lost only 25% of fruitlets at June drop, irrespective of GA treatment. June drop was, however, severe in the two other cultivars least affected by frost, i.e. by 33% in cv. Conference and 55% in cv. Comice. Both initial and final fruit set were significantly increased by a combined application of GA3+GA4 + 7 at full bloom, without affecting return bloom, but June drop was also enhanced by GA application. The largest positive effect of GA application on fruit yield, an additional 2 kg of fruit per tree equivalent to €1200/ha, was apparent with the cv. Alexander Lucas, i.e. the cultivar most affected by frost. There was no loss in fruit quality viz fruit size after any of the GA applications with any of the pear cultivars examined and no increase in abnormally-shaped, elongated fruit.  相似文献

The effects of applied gibberellins (GAs), GA1, GA3, GA4 and GA7 with a cytokinin, N-(2-chloro-4-pyridyl)-N′-phenylurea (CPPU) and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) on fruit set, parthenogenesis induction and fruit expansion of a number of Rosaceae species were assessed. These included Japanese pear cv. ‘Akibae’ (self-compatible) and cv. ‘Iwate yamanashi’ (a seedless cultivar). Other Rosaceae species (Pyrus communis, Chaenomeles sinensis, Cydonia oblonga, and Malus pumila) were also investigated. GA4, GA7 and CPPU are very effective in inducing parthenocarpic fruit growth, whereas GA1, GA3 and IAA, have no ability to induce parthenogenesis in Japanese pear. GA4- and GA7-induced parthenocarpic fruit tended to be smaller in size, higher in flesh hardness, and showed advanced fruit ripening in comparison to pollinated fruit and to parthenocarpic fruit induced by CPPU. GA4- and GA7-induced parthenocarpic fruit also had an increased pedicel length and fruit shape index and also showed a slight protrusion of the calyx end. CPPU, GA4 and GA7 alone or combination with uniconazole were also active in inducing parthenogenesis in three other Rosaceae species, although final fruit set was extremely low. GA1 was essentially inactive in promoting fruit expansion unlike the other bioactive GAs, whose effectiveness in promoting fruit cell expansion was as follow: GA4 ≈ GA7 > GA3 > GA1.  相似文献

无籽果实具有许多优点 ,深受人们喜爱。传统无籽果实生产方法存在着诸如单性结实品种少、外用激素施用量不易掌握及四倍体品种较难获得等一系列问题。分子遗传研究表明 ,植物基因组中含有影响单性结实的基因 ,某些来自于细菌的基因也可在植物激素生物合成途径中起调节作用。应用这些目的基因 ,已建立了转基因生产无籽果实的新策略 ,如在种皮或子房特异性启动子控制下的生长素基因或细胞毒素基因的表达及“终止子”技术的运用等 ,这将大规模地促进蔬菜和水果生产 ,提高果蔬产品的市场价值。  相似文献

This paper deals with the development of embryo sac and the parthenocarpy of Zizyphus jujuba Mill. The results are as follows: In Ningxia round jujuba, there are one to four archesporial cells but ordinarily only one of them can develop to megaspore.mother cell and the others degenerated. The embryo sac belongs to Allium type. Two megaspore nuclei take part in the formation of female gametophyte. The development of fruits doesn't depent on the fertilization. So the Ningxia round jujuba is a stable parthenocarpy. The relation between the development of fruits and the pollination was discussed.  相似文献

In addition to the previously-reported gibberellins: GA1; GA8, GA20 and GA29 (García-Martínez et al., 1987, Planta 170, 130–137), GA3 and GA19 were identified by combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in pods and ovules of 4-d-old pollinated pea (Pisum sativum cv. Alaska) ovaries. Pods contained additionally GA17, GA81 (2-hydroxy GA20) and GA29-catabolite. The concentrations of GA1, GA3, GA8, GA19, GA20 and GA29 were higher in the ovules than in the pod, although, with the exception of GA3, the total content of these GAs in the pod exceeded that in the seeds. About 80% of the GA3 content of the ovary was present in the seeds. The concentrations of GA19 and GA20 in pollinated ovaries remained fairly constant for the first 12 ds after an thesis, after which they increased sharply. In contrast, GA1 and GA3 concentrations were maximal at 7 d and 4–6 d, respectively, after anthesis, at about the time of maximum pod growth rate, and declined thereafter. Emasculated ovaries at anthesis contained GA8, GA19 and GA20 at concentrations comparable with pollinated fruit, but they decreased rapidly. Gibberellins a1 and A3 were present in only trace amounts in emasculated ovaries at any stage. Parthenocarpic fruit, produced by decapitating plants immediately above an emasculated flower, or by treating such flowers with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid or GA7, contained GA19 and GA20 at similar concentrations to seeded fruit, but very low amounts of GA1 and GA3 Thus, it appears that the presence of fertilised ovules is necessary for the synthesis of these last two GAs. Mature leaves and leaf diffusates contained GA1, GA8, GA19 and GA20 as determined by combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry using selected ion monitoring. The influence of removing the apical shoot and different leaves above and below the flower on the fruit-set of unpollinated pea ovaries (Pisum sativum L. cv. Alaska) has been studied. Unpollinated ovaries were induced to set and develop either by topping or by removing certain developing leaves of the shoot. Topping had a maximum effect when carried out before or on the day of anthesis, and up to four consecutive ovaries were induced to set in the same plant. The inhibition of fruit-set was due to the developing leaves and not to the apex. The third leaf above the first flower, which had a simultaneous development to the ovary, had the stronger inhibitory effect on parthenocarpic fruit-set. 本文对一种单性结实枣做了较详细的胚胎学观察。结果表明:孢原由1—4个细胞组成,通常仅有一个可发育为大孢子母细胞。有二个大孢子核参与胚囊形成,胚囊属葱型。部分花柱中有花粉管,但不发生受精。果实的发育不依赖于受精,是一种稳定的单性结实类型。讨论了传粉与果实发育的关系。  相似文献
