Field work and data from herbaria collections (2686 records) representing 283 taxa (265 species and 18 infraspecific taxa) of Bromeliaceae occurring at Minas Gerais state, southeastern Brazil, were analyzed in order to obtain distribution and diversity information, and to determine IUCN (The World Conservation Union) conservation status for each taxon. A map containing 1° × 1° grid cells was used to identify priority areas for new research collections, areas of high species diversity, and Bromeliaceae conservation status. A clear decrease in Bromeliaceae diversity is observed between the eastern and the western portions of Minas Gerais, and low floristic similarities were found between neighboring grid cells. The rocky mountains of Cadeia do Espinhaço are considered the most important area for Bromeliaceae endemics. From the 283 taxa of Bromeliaceae that occur at Minas Gerais, 118 (42%) are considered threatened, and 124 taxa (44% of the total) do not occur inside any protected area. The region of the Quadrilátero Ferrífero in the southern portion of the Cadeia do Espinhaço is the most threatened, and urgent strategies for conservation of this rich Bromeliaceae flora are needed. Northeastern Minas Gerais, particularly the rocky outcrops or inselbergs located in the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri rivers drainage basins need additional collection efforts and conservation actions focused on these saxicolous taxa. 相似文献

Local genetic differentiation in Proteopsis argentea (Asteraceae), a perennial herb endemic in Brazil 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0

Proteopsis argentea (Asteraceae, Vernonieae) is a perennial herb endemic to the “campos rupestres” of the Espinha?o Range in Minas Gerais, Brazil,
with fragmented populational distribution. Eleven populations were sampled, throughout the entire distribution of the species,
and assayed for isozyme variation. Low intra-population genetic diversity was found (P = 19.2; A = 1.30; He = 0.058) whereas
species level diversity was higher (P = 55.5, A = 2.0, He = 0.093). The most geographically isolated population showed exclusive
alleles at two loci, whereas two populations less than 2 km apart from each other showed inverted frequencies for two alleles.
Mean genetic identity was high (I = 0.974), but the large Fst (0.30) indicates that the species could lose an important part
of its genetic variation with the extinction of a single population. Our findings indicate that geographic isolation alone
cannot explain population differentiation: localized pollinator behaviour and selection, for example, may be contributing
to the patterns observed.

The Bulbophyllum exaltatum complex comprises 15 described taxa, and present a number of unresolved taxonomic questions, especially among populations
found in the Brazilian campo rupestre vegetation. Allozymes were examined in 33 populations to determine the degree of genetic variability between them and their
degree of differentiation to better define the taxa of this group. Additionally morphometric analyses were also performed
on representatives of 24 populations. All of the populations examined demonstrated high levels of variability and none of
the species formed distinct groups comprising all of the conspecific populations. However, the populations primarily grouped
according to their regional occurrence, with a distinction between populations of the states of Minas Gerais and Bahia, which
coincided with the geophysical disjunction of the mountain chains where they occur. It is probable that hybridization or incipient
differentiation is contributing to the elevated genetic identity observed among the populations, generating a reticulated
