Abstract. Pollen, spores and fungal remains in moss cushions along a transect, traversing a Betula-Quercus forest and a surrounding heathland, were analysed in order to study the relation between present-day vegetation and recent pollen deposition. Pollen and spores are divided into local types from plant species encountered along the transect and regional types, not present along the transect. Relative percentages and absolute concentration of the palynomorphs were estimated. Radiocaesium activity in the moss was measured to assess the minimal duration of palynomorph accumulation (i.e. the age of the moss samples). The absence of simultaneous trends in the regional pollen types indicates that the samples do not have major differences in age. The moss represents the later stages in the heath mosaic cycle. This is supported by the radiocaesium content of the moss. Thus, in this case the concentration values of regional pollen approach deposition values. The values of the local pollen types calculated on such a rather constant regional pollen flux is considered to represent real differences in the local deposition. The local pollen types can be arranged topographically into five groups characteristic of the local vegetation types and their ecotones. The arrangement of the curves of types from phyco-, zoo-, and myco-coenoses suggests their possible origin, either locally from the heath area or from the Betula-Quercus forest, or regionally from elsewhere. Analyses and topographical arrangement of the curves of unknown types contribute in this way to their identification and their possible source of origin.  相似文献

目的:研究妊娠期卵巢过度刺激综合征合并卵巢蒂扭转行腹腔镜下保留卵巢术的可行性及安全性。方法:对本院2010年1月-2017年12月妇科住院的9例妊娠期卵巢过度刺激综合征合并卵巢蒂扭转患者进行腹腔镜下保留卵巢术,观察其发病时间、卵巢扭转情况、手术时间、术中出血量、术后并发症及妊娠结局等。结果:9例患者术后均无明显并发症发生,术后随访9例患者妊娠结局均良好,其中,8例患者足月产,1例早产。结论:腹腔镜下妊娠期卵巢过度刺激综合征合并卵巢蒂扭转保留卵巢术对患者维持妊娠及生育功能的影响小、术后并发症低,是一种安全、可行性强的手术。  相似文献

There is conflicting evidence regarding the role of nitric oxide (NO) in the process of resistance against blood-stage malaria parasites. In this study, we used two strains of mice infected with Plasmodium yoelii 17XL in order to assess the NO production profile and its possible role during the early stage of malaria infection. We found a greater elevation of NO production associated with a sharp increase in the levels of IFN-γ in infected DBA/2 mice, compared with infected BALB/c mice. This difference was associated with relatively lower parasitemia, a higher constituent ratio of infected reticulocytes, and greater survival in DBA/2 mice. Endogenous IFN-γ driving Th1 immunity was responsible for NO production. Moreover, schizonts treated in vitro with NO donors caused a delayed infection to BALB/c mice in a dose and time-dependent manner. These data, thus, suggest that NO may play an inhibitory role in Plasmodium infection.  相似文献

Shigella flexneri is an infectious pathogen that causes dysentery to human, which remains a serious threat to public health, particularly in developing countries. In this study, the global protein expression patterns of S. flexneri during transition from exponential growth to stationary phase in vitro were analyzed by using 2-D PAGE combined with MALDI-TOF MS. In a time-course experiment with five time points, the relative abundance of 49 protein spots varied significantly. Interestingly, a putative outer membrane protein YciD (OmpW) was almost not detected in the exponential growth phase but became one of the most abundant proteins in the whole stationary-phase proteome. Some proteins regulated by the global regulator FNR were also significantly induced (such as AnsB, AspA, FrdAB, and KatG) or repressed (such as AceEF, OmpX, SodA, and SucAB) during the growth phase transition. These proteins may be the key effectors of the bacterial cell cycle or play important roles in the cellular maintenance and stress responses. Our expression profile data provide valuable information for the study of bacterial physiology and form the basis for future proteomic analyses of this pathogen.  相似文献

Abstract. For seven years we studied the recovery of vegetation in a Belgian P limited rich fen (Caricion davallianae), which had been fertilized with nitrogen (200 g.m?2) and phosphorus (50 g.m?2) in 1992. The vegetation in this fen has low above‐ground biomass production (< 100 g m?2) due to the strong P limitation. Above‐ground biomass was harvested from 1992 to 1998 and P and N concentrations measured. In 1998, below‐ground biomass was also harvested. The response to fertilization differed markedly between below‐ and above‐ground compartments. Above‐ground, P was the single most important factor that continued to stimulate growth 7 yr after fertilization. Below‐ground, N tended to decrease live root biomass and increase dead root biomass and seemed to have a toxic effect on the roots. In the combined NP treatment the stimulating effect of P (an increase of live root biomass) was countered by N. The 1998 soil analysis showed no difference in soil P in the plots. Thus, Fe hydroxides are not capable of retaining P in competition with fen vegetation uptake. However, higher capture of P in root Fe coatings from N plots may partially explain this negative N effect. The results suggest that N root toxicity will be amplified in strongly P limited habitats but that its persistence will be less influenced by P availability. This mechanism may be a competitive advantage for N2 fixing species that grow in strongly P limited wetlands.  相似文献

Questions: Were continued groundwater discharge and mowing regimes sufficient for vegetation preservation from 1944 to 1993? Which has a stronger effect on vegetation development; groundwater discharge or mowing? What is the role of surface water eutrophication as driver of vegetation change? Location: Het Hol, The Netherlands (ca. 92 ha, 52°13′N, 5°05′E). Methods: Hydrology was simulated for the late 1940s, early 1960s and 1987. Vegetation maps (1944, 1960, 1975 and 1993) were compared for biotope cover. Vegetation recordings in 1944 and 1987 were compared. Surface water quality was compared between 1950 and 1987. Which sites were mown was reconstructed from an interview. Effects of periodic mowing and groundwater discharge on vegetation development were tested for correlation. Results: Biotope diversity reduced significantly through decrease of semi‐aquatic and tall‐herb biotopes, and expansion of forest. The quagfen terrestrialization sere nearly disappeared from 1987 recordings, while the reed sere did well concerning abundance and species richness. Several typical (rich) fen species disappeared from recordings, while new species were mostly field margin species. Periodic mowing and discharge combined are correlated with increasing species numbers. The P‐concentration in surface water increased while N‐concentration decreased. Conclusions: Preservation of the reed sere was successful, whereas preservation of the quagfen sere was not. Periodic mowing and discharge stimulate species richness, discharge more so than periodic mowing. But slight eutrophication likely induced a shift from P‐limitation to N‐limitation, which stimulated the reed sere at the expense of the quagfen sere.  相似文献

The abnormal human low-density lipoprotein class characteristic of biliary obstruction (LP-X) was reacted with [14C]succinic anhydride to an extent of 70–80 moles of succinyl groups incorporated per 105 g of LP-X protein. The modified lipoprotein retained the typical morphology and ultracentrifugal flotation and sedimentation properties of LP-X but failed to react with antiserum to the native lipoprotein. On agar and agarose gel electrophoresis the succinylated lipoprotein had an increased mobility toward the anode relative to LP-X, as a result of the increased negative charge on the protein component.Partial delipidation of succinylated LP-X and ultracentrifugal fractionation of the protein into a fraction containing phospholipids plus at least three relatively small proteins (Apo-X) and an essentially lipid-free protein, chemically similar and immunologically identical with albumin, permitted us to evaluate the extent of reaction of these two protein classes with succinic anhydride in intact LP-X. On the average, the Apo-X fraction had 72 moles of succinyl groups incorporated per 105 g of protein, whereas the albumin fraction incorporated 55 moles per 105 g of protein.Extensive reaction of susceptible amino acid residues (mostly lysines) with succinic anhydride, without disruption of the lipoprotein structure, indicates that these protein groups are accessible to the reagent and are not involved in critical protein-lipid interactions. Elimination of immunoreactivity upon succinylation of LP-X implies that, at least for the Apo-X component, lysine residues participate in the interaction with LP-X antibodies. Also, the present results strongly support the view that albumin is not merely adsorbed to LP-X, and suggest, furthermore, that protein-protein interactions are not directly responsible for the characteristic stacking of LP-X discs as seen in the electron microscope.  相似文献

Abstract. On the Vecht river plain (western Netherlands), small fens, remnants of a large mesotrophic wetland bordering a moraine, of 1 to 5 ha are found in a man-made matrix of lakes and pastures. The regional position of the fens, local position of sampling sites, composition of the vegetation and local hydrological variables were measured. Polders in the river plain produce a complex hydrology obscuring the regional zonation between moraine and river. Water supply and species composition are determined more by a site's regional than local position. High-productivity reedlands are abundant close to the river. Carex paniculata reedlands receive large amounts of river water, which gives their fen water a high K+ concentration. Low-productivity C. diandra fens and litter fens have their optimum closer to the moraine. C. diandra fens are fed mainly by inflowing nutrient-poor ground- or surface water; litter fens receive primarily rainwater. Nutrients in fen water and in peat are lowest in C. diandra and C. lasiocarpa fens, but do not differ significantly between the communities. In both, iron seems to be more important than calcium in reducing phosphate solubility. Iron richness in the C. diandra fens is caused by present inflows of ground- or surface water, while in C. lasiocarpa fens, which succeed the former, iron richness is the result of historical inflows.  相似文献
