Abstract: The effect of timing of application on the incompatibility of three fungicides (metalaxyl, mancozeb, copper oxide) and isolate MK2001 of the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin was assessed in vitro . Isolate MK 2001 at 1 × 107 conidia/ml concentration was highly pathogenous to adults of Lygus lineolaris (Hemiptera) (84% mortality at day 4 post-treatment). The fungicides at the manufacturer recommended rate (1X) were strongly fungistatic and inhibited the fungal isolate radial growth on Sabouraud dextrose agar (SDA). Mancozeb, metalaxyl and copper oxide exhibited insecticidal activity of 24, 40 and 48% respectively, on L. lineolaris adults. It is clear that application of the fungal isolate MK2001 2–4 days before applying fungicides metalaxyl, mancozeb or copper oxide synergized the insecticidal effect of the isolate. On the contrary, application of metalaxyl, mancozeb, copper oxide 2–4 days before applying isolate MK2001 antagonized the insecticidal effect. The simultaneous use of each fungicide (metalaxyl, mancozeb or copper oxide) and the isolate gave lesser insect mortality. This study revealed that although some fungicides are incompatible for use alongside fungal isolates, the proper evaluation of their time of use could be beneficial in biological control or IPM programmes. Furthermore, the application of B. bassiana isolate MK2001 followed by fungicide application could synergize insecticidal activity.  相似文献

In the present study, we have tested the beneficial effects of forskolin in protecting the mancozeb‐induced reproductive toxicity in rats. Adult male Wistar rats were exposed to either mancozeb (500 mg/kg body weight/day) or forskolin (5 mg/kg body weight/day) or both for 65 days and analyzed for spermatogenesis and steroidogenesis and testicular and epididymal oxidative toxicity. A significant decrease in daily sperm production, epididymal sperm count, motile, viable, and hypo‐osmotic swelling‐tail swelled sperm was observed in mancozeb‐treated rats. The activity levels of testicular 3β‐hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and 17β‐hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and circulatory testosterone levels were significantly decreased in mancozeb‐treated rats. Exposure to mancozeb resulted in a significant decrease in glutathione levels and superoxide dismutase and catalase activity levels with an increase in lipid peroxidation levels in the testes and epididymis. Coadministration of forskolin mitigated the mancozeb‐induced oxidative toxicity and suppressed steroidogenesis and spermatogenesis.  相似文献

Abstract

Leaf blight caused by Alternaria helianthi (Hansf.) Tubaki & Nishihara, is the major disease of sunflower affecting the successful cultivation across India. Five individual fungicides and two combination fungicides were evaluated against this pathogen in laboratory and in field experiments. Among them, the combination of carbendazim + mancozeb completely (100%) inhibited the mycelial growth of A. helianthi, irrespective of the concentrations tested followed by carbendazim alone and metalaxyl + mancozeb under in vitro condition. In field conditions, the combination of carbendazim + mancozeb was found to be highly effective in reducing the leaf blight disease of sunflower in all the three experiments as compared to other fungicides and unsprayed control. The reduction of Alternaria leaf blight was also directly associated with an increase in seed yield. The economics of the fungicides spray has been worked out and the benefit cost ratio for the combination of carbendazim + mancozeb at 2.0 g/l was 7.1 as compared to unsprayed control. The overall analysis of the results revealed that the combination of carbendazim + mancozeb at 2.0 g/l can be used for the management of foliar diseases such as Alternaria leaf spot/blight in agricultural crops.  相似文献

A flow‐injection (FI) method is reported for the determination of Mn(II), maneb and mancozeb fungicides based on the catalytic effect of Mn(II) on the oxidation of lucigenin and dissolved oxygen in a basic solution. The Tween‐20 surfactant has been reported for first time to enhance lucigenin chemiluminescence (CL) intensity in the presence of Mn(II) (53%) and maneb and mancozeb (89%). The calibration graphs were linear in the concentration range of 0.001–1.5 mg L–1 (R2 = 0.9982 (n = 11) with a limit of detection (S/N = 3) of 0.1 µg L–1 for Mn(II) and 0.01–3.0 mg L–1 [R2 = 0.9989 and R2 = 0.9992 (n = 6)] with a limit of detection (S/N =3) of 1.0 µg L–1 for maneb and mancozeb respectively. Injection throughputs of 90 and 120 h–1 for Mn(II) and maneb and mancozeb respectively, and relative standard deviations of 1.0–3.4% were obtained in the concentration range studied. The experimental variables, e.g., reagents concentrations, flow rates, sample volume, and photomultiplier tube voltage, were optimized and potential interferences were investigated. The analysis of Mn(II) in river water reference materials (SLRS‐4 and SLRS‐5) showed good agreement with the certified values incorporating an on‐line 8‐hydroxyquinoline chelating column in the manifold for removing interfering metal ions. Recoveries for maneb and mancozeb were in the range of 92 ± 5 to 104 ± 3% and 91 ± 2 to 100 ± 4% (n = 3) respectively. The effect of 30 other pesticides (fungicides, herbicides and insecticides) was also examined in the lucigenin–Tween‐20 CL system. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the health effects induced by exposure to the fungicide mancozeb in Italian vineyard workers. Ninety-three Italian subjects entered the study - 48 vine-growers intermittently exposed to mancozeb and 45 healthy controls. The subjects were investigated three times: before the seasonal application of pesticides (T0), 30 days after the beginning of the application period (T30), and 45 days after T0 (T45). At T0 the comparison between agricultural workers and controls showed a higher prevalence of cold or flu symptoms, a statistically significant lower percentage of monocytes, higher absolute count of T lymphocytes, CD4 and natural killer cells, and lower plasma levels of IgA and IgM in workers. Such differences were not confirmed at T30 and T45. In fact at T30 in exposed workers, besides a significant increase of urinary ethylenethiourea, confirming mancozeb exposure, T lymphocytes, CD4 and natural killer cells, IgA and IgM returned to values comparable to those observed in controls. Moreover, no other differences in clinical signs, haematological, and immune parameters, such as the immune functional capability evaluated as a response to hepatitis B vaccination, was observed. Altogether the differences between exposed and controls were not consistently correlated to any clinical impairment and suggest that the seasonal application of mancozeb does not pose a significant health risk to exposed subjects.  相似文献

We have previously shown that fungicide Mancozeb causes a 50% decrease in Bradyrhizobium sp USDA 3187 growth rate and affects the bacteria-root symbiotic interaction. In order to elucidate the fungicide toxicity mechanism we determined the effects of Mancozeb on cell chemical composition, glutathione (GSH) content (molecule involved in the detoxification process), glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity and on polyamine, exopolysaccharides, capsular polysaccharides and lipopolysaccharides. Mancozeb produced biochemical alterations in membrane composition, polysaccharides and polyamines. In spite of the increment of GSH content and GST activity, they are not enough to prevent the growth diminution.  相似文献

We have tested whether some pesticides might cause inner membrane leakage in ML35 Escherichia coli cells, which express β-galactosidase (lacZ; EC 3.2.1.23) constitutively but lack the permease (lacY) required for substrate entry. The activity of β-galactosidase (indicative of substrate leakage through the inner membrane) was increased by various concentrations of pesticides, including the organometallic fungicides maneb and mancozeb, the insecticide Thiodan, and the herbicide Ally, as well as by antibiotics such as ampicillin, gramicidin D, and the calcium ionophore A23187. The enzyme activity was increased by up to ∼30% when the E. coli ML35 strain was exposed to various concentrations (between 50 and 250 ppm) of both fungicides. Thiodan had only a slight effect on β-galactosidase activity (increase of 12.8%), whereas, among the antibiotics, the calcium ionophore at 20 μg/ml caused a significant increase in enzyme activity by up to 61.8%. This effect is similar to that of sodium dodecyl sulfate, used as positive control (∼70% increase). Accumulation of maneb and mancozeb by bacterial cells was also studied taking advantage of their metal content and using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. In parallel with the increase in enzyme activity, both fungicides accumulated in the cells as a function of their concentration. Time course experiments (3, 6, and 9 h) of fungicide accumulation and of bacterial growth at various pesticide concentrations were also carried out. Maneb seems to inhibit the bacterial growth better than mancozeb. In addition, maneb uptake increases with time up to 9 h at all tested concentrations, whereas the accumulation of mancozeb is similar at all the exposure times tested. This indicates a different uptake and/or metabolizing strategy by E. coli cells for the two fungicides.  相似文献

Larvae of mealworms Tenebrio molitor L. (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) have been used as animal feed, but fungal pathogens rapidly downsize the populations, resulting in economic losses. In this work, we established an effective management strategy for fungal pathogens. An entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveria bassiana, was isolated from mealworm cadavers. The bioassay of some isolates of this species at >90% relative humidity revealed that the ERL1575 isolate had the highest virulence. At 20–30% RH, ERL1575 conidia when ingested produced 80% mortality but when sprayed topically produced only <10% mortality. Mealworms that had ingested conidia were exposed to 20, 25, 30 and 35°C and high humidity (>95%) for 5 days. This experiment produced about 90% mortality except at 35°C where mortality was <20%. When 40 fungicides were assayed against ERL1575, fluazinam (1000‐fold) and mancozeb (667‐fold) significantly inhibited conidial germination and/or hyphal growth. When fluazinam and mancozeb were added to the mealworm diet of conidia‐inoculated wheat bran, most were alive 3 days post application. However, 100% mortality resulted 3 days post application in the conidia‐inoculated wheat bran without any fungicides. In conclusion, B. bassiana isolates are pathogenic at <30°C when they are ingested by mealworms but fluazinam and mancozeb can be used for management to control the pathogen in their cultures.  相似文献

This study was conducted to evaluate the cymoxanil-mancozeb (CM) toxicity and investigate the ameliorative effect of resveratrol (Res) against cymoxanil-mancozeb toxicity. Forty rats were divided into four groups; the first group was used as a control group, the second group was exposed to Res only at a dose of 20 mg/kg body weight for 4 weeks, and the third group was administered CM only at a dose of 799 mg/kg body weight for 4 weeks, The fourth group was co-treated with Res+CM for 4 weeks. Blood samples were analyzed for hematological and biochemical parameters. The comet assay was done on liver and blood specimens and histopathological examinations of the liver and intestine. The results demonstrated that CM exposure caused a significant increase in WBCs, lymphocytes, granulocytes, monocytes ALT, AST, ALP, and GGT, and total cholesterol and triglycerides levels accompanied by a decrease in HGB, HCT, RBCs and MCV, MCH, MCHC, HDL and glucose levels with no significant DNA damage in liver and blood. CM mixture induced severe pathological changes in small intestine and liver. Co-treatment of Res with CM improved hematological picture, lipid and glucose profiles also liver enzymes and decreased changes in the architecture of the liver and intestine.  相似文献
