Ellagic acid derivatives and cytotoxic cucurbitacins from Elaeocarpus mastersii

Bioassay-guided investigation of the bark of Elaeocarpus mastersii using KB (human oral epidermoid carcinoma) cells as a monitor led to the isolation of two cucurbitacins, cucurbitacin D and cucurbitacin F as cytotoxic principles, together with two ellagic acid derivatives, 4'-O-methylellagic acid 3-(2",3"-di-O-acetyl)-alpha-L-rhamnoside (1) and 4,4'-O-dimethylellagic acid 3-(2",3"-di-O-acetyl)-alpha-L-rhamnoside (2). These compounds were evaluated against a panel of human tumor cell lines.     

圆果雪胆中的皂甙成分

从圆果雪胆（Ｈｅｍｓｌｅｙａ ａｍａｂｉｌｉｓ）的块茎中分离到１０个化合物,其中３个雪胆皂甙是首次从该种植物中得到,它们的结构通过光谱和化学的方法鉴定为齐墩果酸－３－Ｏ－α－吡喃阿拉伯糖（１→３）－β－葡萄糖醛酸甙,２８－Ｏ－β－Ｄ－吡喃葡萄糖齐墩果酸３－Ｏ－α－吡喃阿拉伯糖（１→３）－β－Ｄ－葡萄糖醛酸,２８－Ｏ－β－Ｄ－吡喃葡萄糖齐墩果酸３－Ｏ－「β－Ｄ－吡喃葡萄糖（１→２）」－「α－吡喃阿     

Cucurbitacins from Bacopa monnieri

Four cucurbitacins, bacobitacin A-D (1-4) as well as, a known cytotoxic, cucurbitacin E (5) together with three known phenylethanoid glycosides, monnieraside I, III and plantioside B were isolated form the aerial part of Bacopa monnieri. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic investigations (1D, 2D NMR and ESI-QTOF-MS/MS). This is the first report on the characterization of cucurbitacins in B. monnieri.
