Standard metabolic rate ( R s) at 2°C of eight East Siberian cod Arctogadus borisovi , caught in West Greenland, body mass of 601.5 ± 147.6 g (mean ± s.D.), was 40.9 ± 5.9 mg O2 kg-1 h-1 and 59.0 ± 6.6mg O2 kg-1 h-1 when extrapolated to a standardized 100 g fish. R s was compared with three other Gadidae, to test the theory of metabolic cold adaptation (MCA). There was no evidence of MCA in the family.  相似文献

The Arctogadus glacialis is endemic to the Arctic Ocean and its apparently disjunct circumpolar distribution range from the Siberian coast through the Chukchi Sea and the Canadian Arctic to the shelf off NE Greenland. Records of A. glacialis are scarce in the European Arctic and here we present all available and reliable records of the species in the area. Altogether, 296 specimens of A. glacialis are reported from 53 positions in the European Arctic during the period 1976–2008. The specimens were registered off Iceland and the Jan Mayen Island, northwest and northeast of Svalbard, northeast in the Barents Sea, and south and east off Franz Josef Land. The additional records show that A. glacialis display a circumpolar and more continuous distribution than described before. In the European Arctic, A. glacialis has been caught at 155–741 m depth with the highest abundance at 300–400 m. We therefore suggest that A. glacialis is more associated to the continental shelves surrounding the Arctic Ocean than previously thought. The length–weight relation of A. glacialis is similar across the European Arctic.  相似文献

Correct phenotypical identification of and discrimination between Boreogadus saida and Arctogadus glacialis is challenging, especially for larvae and young fish. We propose the use of a single microsatellite genetic marker, Gmo8, to distinguish between the two gadoid fish species. Amplified allele frequencies differed considerably, with B. saida (n = 97) being almost exclusively monomorphic at this locus, whereas A. glacialis (n = 136) is highly polymorphic. There was a clear separation between the amplified allele ranges for the two species. The species specific properties of Gmo8 enables the use of this marker to distinguish between B. saida and A. glacialis.  相似文献

In all 155 specimens of the high Arctic codfish Arctogadus glacialis examined for metazoan parasites, 55 specimens were from southern and northern Baffin Bay, western Greenland, and 100 specimens from north-eastern Greenland and Scoresby Sound. A total of 20 parasite taxa were recorded. A new myxozoan Gadimyxa arctica was found in southern Baffin Bay and Scoresby Sound. The gadid myxozoan Zschokkella hildae, the digeneans Gonocerca phycidis and Lecithaster gibbosus, the gill copepod Haemobaphes cyclopterina and third-stage larvae of the nematodes Anisakis simplex and Hysterothylacium aduncum were found in Scoresby Sound only. The digenean Hemiurus levinseni and third-stage larvae of the nematode Contracaecum sp. were found at all four stations. The nematodes Ascarophis spp. were found at three stations. The parasite fauna of A. glacialis from Scoresby Sound was very similar to that of 50 specimens of the closely related Boreogadus saida from the same area.  相似文献
