Otolith and somatic mass of two Gadidae ( Merlangius merlangus and Trisopterus minutus ) were compared in order to analyse the sex-specific relationship between otolith and somatic growth at age. In the present study, otolith mass appeared a reliable indicator of age in both species. Otolith growth reflected somatic growth, but the relationship between these characters varied and differed between species and sexes.  相似文献

The metabolic changes occurring during liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy have been followed by examination of the perchloric extracts by means of NMR spectroscopy. Proton spectra show an abrupt decrease of glycogen, glucose and nucleotides, which are essentially ribonucleotides, in the first hours after hepatectomy. Nucleotides begin to store up again in the third day after hepatectomy, while glucose and glycogen storage builds up from the second day. 31P data evidence a sharp drop of phosphomonoesters, i.e. monophosphosugars (including AMP) and phosphocholine, and phosphodiesters, i.e. GPC and GPE, soon after hepatectomy and a recovery of the initial levels approximately at the 60th hour and a further increase of PDE at later times. The NMR findings are in agreement with the biochemical knowledge of the course of liver regeneration.  相似文献

Gels have been prepared from aqueous solutions of anthracyclines by addition of salts. The gels are thixotropic and thermally reversible. They are stable for several months in the refrigerator and for long times even at room temperature. The gel-solution transition (melting) temperature depends on the concentration of the anthracycline and on the concentration and nature of the added salt. The melting has been followed by 1H-NMR. Only weak intermolecular interactions (stacking and hydrogen bonds) originate the drug network, within which the solvent is entrapped. 1H-NMR and polarimetric data suggest a stacked helical arrangement of the anthracycline molecules. In order to study the influence of Arbuscular Mycorrhiza (AM) on the development of root rot infection, tomato plants were raised with or withoutGlomus mosseae and/orPhytophthora nicotianae var.parasitica in a sand culture system. All plants were fed with a nutrient solution containing one of two phosphorus (P) levels, 32µM (I P) or 96µM (II P), to test the consequence of enhanced P nutrition by the AM fungus on disease dynamics. Mycorrhizal plants had a similar development to that of control plants. Treatment withPhytophthora nicotianae var.parasitica resulted in a visible reduction in plant weight and in a widespread root necrosis in plants without mycorrhiza. The presence of the AM fungus decreased both weight reduction and root necrosis. The percentage reduction of adventitious root necrosis and of necrotic root apices ranged between 63 and 89% The enhancement of P nutrition increased plant development, but did not appreciably decrease disease spread. In our system, mycorrhiza increased plant resistance toP. nicotianae var.parasitica infection. Although a contribution of P nutrition by mycorrhiza cannot be excluded, other mechanisms appear to play a crucial role.  相似文献

1. ATP-dependent calcium uptake by a rabbit brain vesicular fraction (microsomes) was studied in the presence of phosphate or oxalate. These anions, which are known to form insoluble calcium salts, increased the rate of calcium uptake and the capacity of the vesicles for calcium accumulation. 2. The degree of activation depended on the concentration of phosphate or oxalate. Under optimal conditions, phosphate promoted a 5-fold increase in the amount of calcium stored at steady state. This level was 200-250 nmol Ca-2+/mg protein. 3. Initial rate of calcium uptake followed Michaelis-Menten kinetics with an apparent Km for calcium of 6.7-10-minus 5 M and a V of 44 nmol/min per mg protein. Optimal pH was 7.0. With 2 mM ATP, optimal Mg-2+ concentration was 2 mM. 4. Dintrophenol and NaN3 inhibited calcium uptake in a mitochondria-enriched fraction but not in the microsomal fraction. 5. Calcium uptake activity was compared in the six subfractions prepared from the whole microsomal fraction by means of a sucrose density gradient fractionation. 6. The Mg-2+-dependent ATPase activity of brain microsomes was activated by calcium. Maximal activation was attained with 100 muM CaCl2. Greater calcium concentrations caused a progressive inhibition. 7. The data suggest that the ATP-dependent calcium uptake in brain microsomes, as in muscle microsomes, is brought about by an active transport process, calcium being accumulated as a free ion inside the vesicles.  相似文献

Recently, sodium ion batteries (SIBs) have been widely investigated as one of the most promising candidates for replacing lithium ion batteries (LIBs). For SIBs or LIBs, designing a stable and uniform solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) at the electrode–electrolyte interface is the key factor to provide high capacity, long‐term cycling, and high‐rate performance. In this paper, it is described how a remarkably enhanced SEI layer can be obtained on TiO2 nanotube (TiO2 NTs) arrays that allows for a strongly improved performance of sodium battery systems. Key is that a Li+ pre‐insertion in TiO2 NTs can condition the SEI for Na+ replacement. SIBs constructed with Li‐pre‐inserted NTs deliver an exceptional Na+ cycling stability (e.g., 99.9 ± 0.1% capacity retention during 250 cycles at a current rate of 50 mA g?1) and an excellent rate capability (e.g., 132 mA h g?1 at a current rate of 1 A g?1). The key factor in this outstanding performance is that Li‐pre‐insertion into TiO2 NTs leads not only to an enhanced electronic conductivity in the tubes, but also expands the anatase lattice for facilitated subsequent Na+ cycling.  相似文献

Migratory divides are thought to facilitate behavioral, ecological, and genetic divergence among populations with different migratory routes. However, it is currently contentious how much genetic divergence is needed to maintain distinct migratory behavior across migratory divides. Here we investigate patterns of neutral genetic differentiation among Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla) populations with different migratory strategies across Europe. We compare the level of genetic divergence of populations migrating to southwestern (SW) or southeastern (SE) wintering areas with birds wintering in the British Isles following a recently established northwesterly (NW) migration route. The migratory divide between SW and SE wintering areas can be interpreted as a result of a re-colonization process after the last glaciation. Thus we predicted greater levels of genetic differentiation among the SW/SE populations. However, a lack of genetic differentiation was found between SW and SE populations, suggesting that interbreeding likely occurs among Blackcaps with different migratory orientations across a large area; therefore the SW/SE migratory divide can be seen as diffuse, broad band and is, at best, a weak isolating barrier. Conversely, weak, albeit significant genetic differentiation was evident between NW and SW migrants breeding sympatrically in southern Germany, suggesting a stronger isolating mechanism may be acting in this population. Populations located within/near the SW/SE contact zone were the least genetically divergent from NW migrants, confirming NW migrants likely originated from within the contact zone. Significant isolation-by-distance was found among eastern Blackcap populations (i.e. SE migrants), but not among western populations (i.e. NW and SW migrants), revealing different patterns of genetic divergence among Blackcap populations in Europe. We discuss possible explanations for the genetic structure of European Blackcaps and how gene flow influences the persistence of divergent migratory behaviors.  相似文献
